Workbench is an online translation interface that makes it easier to work on different file types.

If a certain project has an orange "Open Editor" or "Open Workbench" button under the Translation Section -  the Workbench is available for it.

If the project has Workbench available, there is no need to download the source file to the computer — the translator will be able to work directly in the editor.

The interface helps isolate the content that requires translation from the metadata and allows the translator to work on a file without changing the tags of the source file.

In addition, once completed, the format of the translation will be identical to the format of the source.

Thus, Translation Workbench enables multiple file types and formats to be translated without corrupting the original data format or layout.

For certain file formats, the translation must be submitted via workbench only. This is done in cases when the file format contains strings or other IT-related codes that should neither be translated nor altered in any way and also when the client uses translation memory — in this case, some strings may be pre-translated and you can see it only in Workbench.

Such formats include xml, html, xliff, po, strings, and other coded formats. Translations produced using a different editor will not be accepted.
